The Wait Continues…

Unless you’ve been living in a cave, you’re most likely aware that there’s a good chance we’ll see some energy from Hurricane Irene towards the beginning of next week. Plenty of good information on Irene over at Jeff Master’s Wudnerground Blog.
In the meantime I’ve been borrowing Lucas’s camera, some Molly Surf Competition photos, some Maine exploration photos and an alcohol photo :).

The Waiting Game | Chapter One

I wanted to start a new series for Hurricane season, it’s just natural that it would be named “The Waiting Game”. Most of our time up here is spent waiting for the swell to arrive, hours in front of the computer screen reading too far into swell models a week out. Someday we’ll get waves.

Some random photos from last week, I think.

The Wall | August 10, 2011

I blew it again this morning, woke up and checked the cam and it just didn’t look that great so I went back to sleep. Got down to the wall around 9 and it was just as big as yesterday with a shorter period and much more unfavorable wind. The wind went off shore for about an hour around lunchtime before switching back onshore for the evening.

This morning brought better conditions, have a look.

August 8, 2011 | Surf

Some waves came through last night at the wall and I was really excited to get up early and check it out but when I woke up Joel had texted me “small and foggy” and I went right back to sleep. All day it looked like crap ’cause the tide was drained out for the most part of the day. As the tide started pushing in the swell came through. I’d say it was chest high on the sets, 60 degree water and sun, couldn’t be much better. Well, I guess there were some crowding issues but I think everyone is just happy to have waves. Shot video for most of the day but took a few photos as well…

Aggie | 8.6.11

While waiting for Hurricane Emily & with ski season rapidly approaching, I decided it was a good idea to actually get my ass in shape this year. Mainly due to the mild-strokes I experienced filming last year while hiking & climbing lines (not to mention falling down several). So lately, I’ve been rolling up to Mt. Agamenticus in Maine to put some vertical into my running – granted it is just shy of 1,000 vertical ft. but its a great spot on a nice day. I’ve brought my camera with me every time in a backpack to try and catch a series of sunsets, long exposures & other lifestyle shots that include the infamous White Mountains – our winter playground in less than 150 days. Stay tuned for some swells.

Hurricane Season | Tropical Storm Emily

We’ve been closely watching Tropical Storm Emily for a few days now, forecast track is still up in the air but we’re hoping that it passes by the Islands and leaves Florida unharmed. From there it’s forecasted to pick up speed in the warm water off the coast of Georgia, at this point winds should be upwards of 75 miles an hour and Emily will be upgraded to a Cat 1 Hurricane. Keep your eyes on the forecast.

Headed north to Bathe, Maine a couple weekends ago to visit my good friend Matt & his family. Brought the camera around with me for the day – here’s what I came up with.
