I haven’t had a chance to post much this week – we had a large amount of work associated with the Moe. show and I was just really stoked to hear there was a small Nor’easter coming our way for the weekend. Snow: Some places in Maine saw up to a foot, most Northern VT resorts saw less than half a foot, I think the sweet spot is gonna be Saddleback. Swell: MSW and the other swell charts were showing a super quick burst of energy, maxing out towards the middle of the day and dropping off by nightfall. I got a chance to check it out around 10:15am and it was pretty gnarly looking, definitely some size but real messy. I knew the wind was gonna switch and the tide was gonna back out so we decided to head back down around 2pm, I got in the water for about 45 mins until the 3mm booties just weren’t quite doing their job anymore and grabbed the camera. Unfortunately I misplaced my big lens and had to settle with my 18-55. Dawn patrol tomorrow, camera or surfboard? SAME VIDEO – TWO OPTIONS | What should we use, Vimeo or Youtube?
I didn’t expect to see any waves today, when my friend Mike called me early to tell me there was a little bump I was thoroughly surprised. I got down to the beach in Rye around 4:00 and shot Mike at Linkys for 45 minutes or so, only guy out.
We would also like to send condolences to the family of Sion Milosky who passed away at Maverick’s last night, our prayers are with you.
Finally a little action on the surfing end, we’ve had some hefty snowstorms this season but very little swell. Offshore all weekend and plenty of crowds to welcome in the spring sun.
Woke up this morning absurdly early because my sleep schedule is mangled, I could hear the ocean from my house and that usually means it’s pretty well raging. Stevie O’Hara from Pioneers was absolutely shredding, the majority of these photos are of him.
Edited to add that Kelly Slater has also won his 10th world title today. No one else in sports history has won 10 world titles. Congratulations Kelly!
Well today started at 6am with a drive up to Killington. I drove up expecting to see some type of white precip. and was disappointed to see all of the snow they had gotten the day before was now slush. Conditions were warm and variable with soft bumps and a little drizzle, skied from 9-11:30 and headed back to the Seacoast. Well it turns out the end of the week Coastal storm brought better waves than snowfall. Looks like it should stick around through Monday so get out there.
