Bolton Valley | December 23, 2010
Had an awesome family trip today up at Bolton Valley with my father and brother, they received 7″ of snow since yesterday and were also offering 15 dollar holiday lift tickets. I had never quite experienced the crowds that this smokin’ deal brought in and it was a bit shocking at first but A few good powder turns and some friendly smiles from the lifties made everything numb again. There was a sense of anxiety coming from everyone that you could feel in the lift line but once the skis were pointed downhill again, you can bet your ass it was back to the white room.
I want to give a huge shout out to the Bolton employees for staying patient and friendly all day long, there was some serious crowding issues and they carried themselves professionally and friendly, for that I am appreciative. Next time you get on the lift, give the guy a hello and a thank you, a little smile goes a long way.
Lucas is headed to Vail! Have fun bro, don’t mangle those JJ’s anymore than they already are……(more information/photos to come on this topic) Here’s a little more Bolton stoke to add to the archives, Merry Christmas, Happy New Year and pray for this weekend’s coastal snow event to pummel the mountains!
Here is Part 1 of today’s video, Part 2 up soon:

Killington | October 23
Well today we got up at 4am and set off to Killington. We heard they got a few inches yesterday and the peak was in the clouds for the whole day. We weren’t expecting much but we got some snow on the drive in and the trails looked pretty well covered. The snow was nice and dry and we finally could skin up.
Here is a teaser…more photos up later tonight.

First Nor’easter | Part 2
With all of the Nor’easter talk this week we’ve been looking forward to getting back on the snow. Got up at 4am today with Lucas and headed North on VT-89.
We heard that Killington still had snow to the parking lot but only 15″ up top and we heard that Stowe got hammered with 25″ inches at the summit but there was a 1,500ft snowline (down-hike on the way out). After a long discussion we came to the agreement that Stowe would be a better choice. More choices, better terrain and a more relaxed earn-your-own-turns and skinning policy.
Stowe has some seriously savage terrain above the Gondi summit. We didn’t head up today because the coverage just isn’t good enough yet but we’re heading back up as soon as the pow comes. Here’s a few shots from today, unfortunately the snow was pretty bad, super wet and pretty sun baked, video to be posted later this week.

This was shot by a VT Local, Chris Nelson.

Winter is coming….
There will be some cold temps up in the Adirondacks and Greens on Wednesday night with the chance of precipitation in the snow form above ~4500ft. It will still be weeks until we see the slopes starting to discuss openings but keep your eye on the temperatures up in the mountains, it won’t be long before we can earn some turns.
Here is a shot of Casey Denning (alpine-live team rider) at Alta last winter. GET AMPED!
